Red White and Blue

With July 4th just around the corner, its like everywhere you look all you see is red whit and blue. I went into Wal-mart today and the first thing I saw was all the 4th of July stuff. I really liked the home and garden plates and stuff that they were displaying. I came home and I began to think about how I could incorporate this theme in my house....being a sailors wife, i think the nautical theme as well as the stars and stripes have rubbed off on me and I am thinking of re-doing the guest/my sons room in this theme. We have quite a few nautical things already that my husband has collected over his Naval career so i would really only need to find a few more things to pull this look off. Granted it still may take a while since I rarely like to buy things full price, i may have to wait till after the fourth or a few days before when things start going on sale. :)
I found a few pics for inspiration. I tried to find rooms with white walls but that didnt work out that well, since I live in military housing we are forced to decorate with painters white walls ugh....and we have no say in the carpet or tile choices...lol..we just have to work with what we got, and each house has its own challenges.

Right now the bed in the guest room is a dark brown wood, but i am willing to paint it black. Prime it ,spray paint it and voila....

This one is a little more elegant...this is a maybe for when the kids get out (lol) or for when it exclusivly a guest bedroom.

I like the oars in this one..I would need to do some thrift shopping to find some, living here on the coast, it shouldnt be that hard to find one or two that may need some refinishing.

This one is a tad bit overboard with the whole flag thing, but I like the principle behind the room. It fits into my whole color scheme. I may also add some yellow somewhere in this room as well.

Welcome
